Home Club Presentation

Bonjour!

A few days ago, I gave a mock presentation to my home club, the Rotary Club of Canmore.  It was a practice presentation before I show it to my future host-club in France.  Basically what consist in an exchange-introduction presentation are facts about your home-country; its population, major cities, tradition and trends, as well as your region/province, city/town and your personal life.

At first I was a little nervous, but already from the beginning of my presentation, I felt so welcomed by all the Rotarians who gave me their fullest attention.  I felt so supported, grateful, and most of all, too lucky to be part of this wonderful club!

Let me tell you: the Rotarians of Canmore are BEYOND amazing.  The Club already raised over 1 million dollars for our town and including other local and global communities since 1991.  From being a major sponsor of the Regional Science Fair, sending high school students abroad for one year (that’s me and Amelia!), and raising money for international projects in Mexico, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Uganda and Somalia, Rotarians are outstanding members of our community who strives to provide: "Service Above Self".

Of course internationally, all the 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide are impressive too.  From over 33 000 clubs in more than 200 countries, Rotarians are volunteering their time to make the world a better place through their local projects and international projects such as End Polio Now.

I will say this many more times, but I just wanted to say: Thank You Rotary, ありがとうロータリー, Merci Rotary, for letting me become part of the big family, and I aim to promote world peace by making new friends internationally and immersing myself in new cultures.
